THE ARCHIVE: Rhythm & Blues All Stars LP (1966)

Compilation albums like this one featuring artists such as Howlin’ Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters collected Blues music for British audiences. These records would be passed around groups of friends, as not everyone who was interested in finding music could afford to buy it. Although by no means the first person to play this music on the radio, many young men of the time have fond memories of listening to these artists on John Peel’s Radio 1 weekend ‘Top Gear’ programme.
