Tony Mottram is a professional photographer who spent most of the 1980s working for Metal Hammer. He photographed Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and Ozzy many times.
Home of Metal spent a few hours with him recently. Some of his artefacts have already been uploaded to our archive and there are many more to come. We are particularly impressed with his collection of plectrums.
In the audio clip he describes his very first meeting with Judas Priest, which took place in 1974. It’s a great anecdote. Please have a listen and find out what happened the day Ken Downing tried to take his brand new flying V guitar into a cinema rather than leave it in the van.
