When planning a visit to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery please be aware that the Paradise area, located opposite the Museum, is currently undergoing a major redevelopment and this may affect your journey to the Museum. By Road
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is located within Chamberlain square in the City Centre of Birmingham. Only minutes from the Bullring and Birmingham Grand Central, the nearest motorways are the M6, M5 and M42.
The closest car park is Town Hall Car Park which is 5 minutes walk from the museum, it is operated by Birmingham City Council (charges apply). For google maps and Sat Nav use postcode B1 1TA.
Blue Badge parking can be found on Margaret Street and Edmund Street which are in close proximity to our Edmund Street lift entrance.
By Bus / Metro
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is located within Chamberlain square in the City Centre of Birmingham and within short walking distance of Colmore Row where a number of city centre buses terminate. The closest bus stops to the museum are for buses 9, X10, 82, 87, 89, 120, 127 and 128. Bus services are operated by National Express West Midlands.
The Midland Metro tram runs from Wolverhampton to Birmingham Grand Central/Birmingham New Street Station every 8-15 minutes, 7 days per week. The closest tram stops are Grand Central (6 minute walk up a slight hill), St Chad’s and Bull Street (both an 8 minute fairly flat walk away). Tram services are operated by Midland Metro National Express .
By Rail
The nearest train station is Snow Hill station (less than 10 minutes walk away). Turn right upon leaving Snow Hill Station onto Colmore Row. Walk down Colmore Row until you arrive at Victoria Square. Turn right at the end of the Council House building and the main entrance to the museum will be on your right hand side.
New Street station (less than 10 minutes walk away). Due to the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street station, changes have been made to the entrance/exit points. From New Street Station exit walk up Lower Temple Street and turn left onto New Street. Walk down New Street until you arrive at Victoria Square. The main entrance to the museum will be on your right hand side opposite the Town Hall.
