Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery:
Metal Fatigue: Heavy Metal And Hard Times
Saturday the 16th of July from 12-4pm, come and enjoy the opening ceremony of this fantastic exhibition.
The exhibition takes a look at the memories and experiences of local people and how music has acted as a tonic in their lives. Running alongside this is an exhibition of photos taken in Sandwell and other West Midlands venues from the 1960s onwards of rock and roll stars from a private collection.
This Saturday, come along and see our new Heavy Metal and Hard times exhibition as well as a fabulous selection of 1960s photographs of rock and pop stars in Birmingham and Black Country venues such as Black Sabbath, the rolling stones and Rod Stewart as well as rock and roll stars like Bill Haley and Little Richard.
Opening day visitors can drop in and have a go at creating a unique piece of music from the sounds of the metal bashing industries with lots of old metal – great fun for all ages!
You can also enjoy the Home of Metal film as part of the launch day and a cuppa and a biscuit, while younger visitors can decorate a wooden rock n roll snakes to take home and have a go at guitar hero in our family room!
Entrance free but a small charge for craft activity.
