Tony Mottram’s Commitment for the Camera by Home of Metal.com

The title of this 20 minute oral history recording is inspired by the recent Nick Kent memoir Apathy for the Devil. Kent is a writer, Tony is a photographer. Both got into the world of music media through an unsurpassable passion. And, as you will hear both first met those they would later get paid to hang out with as teenage fanatics. Kent met the Stones, Mottram first encountered Priest on a 1974 day in Harlow, Essex. In this clip you will hear Tony talk us through his professional history from the first time he used a camera at school, to first the first time he received a payment for his pictures, to the first time he was asked to fly to America for a shoot and his mother started buying the music papers to find out where in the world her son had been.
