Tuesday 16th August

Juneau Projects | Birmimgham Museum and Art Gallery | 11am – 4pm | £1.50pp (Plus entrance fee)
Acclaimed local artists, Ben and Phil aka Juneau Projects, will work with visitors to create electronic instruments from cardboard.  Use cardboard to build your own Telecaster or Flying V, drumkit, keyboard or invent your own instrument.  Then add some simple electronics to trigger sound sample, take to the stage and play!

Wednesday 17th August

Wednesday Club – Rock Stars! | Walsall Leather Museum | 10.30am – 12.30pm 5-7s (must be accompanied) | 1.30pm – 3.30pm 8-12s | £1.50
Calling all mini rock star wannabes!  Walsall Leather Museum’s summer Wednesday Club will be hosting a whole host of themed workshops inspired by the Home of Metal festival.  Each week there will be an opportunity to work with artists to create your own rock-inspired memorabilia including your own guitar or album cover. Use Home of Metal graphics or make up your own images to create a Home of Metal badge.

Biker Beads | Haden Hill House | 11am-1pm/2pm-4pm | £3 per item made
Make your own Biker Beads Bracelet to take home.

Home of Metal Family Fun Day | Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery | 12pm-4pm | Free
Make your own guitar which you can play with the Juneau Projects and enjoy lots more family fun and activities

Friday 19th August

Make your own Rock and Metal Poster | Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery | 2pm-5pm | £1.50 per item made
Have you photo taken in a rock star style then print it out and make a rock start poster to take away.

Rock with Macramé | Wolverhampton Art Gallery | 11am-1pm | £3 per item made
A Rock twist on a traditional craft, join artist Claire Diamond and learn to create rock motifs from knotting threads and string. Booking required, call 01902 552 055.

Junk Rock | Wolverhampton Art Gallery | 11am-1pm | Free
Go Green Rock and use junk to create iconic motifs, guitars, skulls, crosses for either wearing or an ornament.

Saturday 20th August

Gibson Masterclass Demonstrations | Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery | 12pm+2pm | Free
A brilliant way to find out about Heavy Metal guitar techniques before having a practice on some of the real Gibson guitars in the exhibition! These sessions include a 30-40 minute discussion and demonstration led by PMT (Professional Music Technology) covering: The development of Heavy Metal guitar techniques through the decades, Local guitar heroes, Gibson guitars in Metal music.
