THE ARCHIVE: Judas Priest rare Japanese special DJ copy (1984)

This is a Japanese only DJ copy which has never been played. It is the most expensive album Steve Grennan has ever bought, costing him £100 from eil.com. It was released on Epic/Sony. It is a very rare 1984 Japanese 13-track promotional-only vinyl LP, housed in a unique gatefold picture sleeve with live photos from the Hammersmith Odeon gig in December 1983 and a Japanese text insert. The inner photographs of the gatefold were taken from the Hammersmith Odeon show on Dec 16-17 1983 during the Defenders of the Faith tour. Around a week after this Hammersmith performance Judas Priest played on The Tube a music programme on Channel 4. The tour actually preceded the release of the Defenders of the Faith album which is the band’s 9th studio album which gave rise to three single releases: Freewheel Burning, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll and Love Bites. This Japanese DJ copy is actually a sort-of best of featuring 13 tracks from 1977 to 1983.Tracklistings are: 1. Sinner, 2. Diamonds And Rust, 3. Exciter, 4. Hell Bent For Leather, 5. Breaking The Law, 6. Living After Midnight, 7. Heading Out To the Highway, 8. The Hellion, 9. Electric Eye, 10. You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’, 11. Freewheel Burning 12. Some Heads Are Gonna Roll 13. Rock Hard Ride Free.
